We Appreciate and Need Volunteers!

The Salvation Army in the United States has depended largely on the caring hearts of volunteers. In the fiscal year ending September 1999, it was recorded that there were 1,695,939 volunteers nation wide. In Boyertown, the former Service Unit was formed by a group of volunteers who committed to providing for the needs of the community in the name of The Salvation Army. Now, just last Thanksgiving and Christmas, 139 volunteers provided 459 hours of volunteer labor cooking and serving a Thanksgiving dinner, ringing bells at our kettle locations, packing Christmas food boxes, and wrapping gifts as well as many other services which are needed during the holidays. Without volunteers, The Salvation Army could not do what the Lord has called it to do.

As programs expand in the months to come, volunteers of all ages and skills will be needed, particularly those willing to work with youth. A volunteer form has been developed, allowing persons to check items that most interest them as well as fit their skills and giftings.

If you are interested in volunteering, call The Salvation Army at 610-367-4089 and ask for Program Coordinator, Matthew Anderson.
