Commanding Officers
Captains Tommy and Gillian Rogers
Captains Tommy and Gillian feel privileged to be able to serve the Lord, and claim their biggest reward as being given the opportunity to share His saving grace with others. Tommy and Gillian met while working for The Salvation Army, and truly believe and claim the Lord working in their lives as they overcame 3500 miles to meet each other! They married in 2003 and were blessed with the birth of their son Noah in 2005; they were blessed this past June to have their second child, Paige.
Captain Tommy Rogers
Tommy came to the Lord at a young age after asking his mother if he could attend Church. She took him to The Salvation Army and soon after thanks to the love he saw in others he gave his life to Christ. Since then Tommy has been active in The Salvation Army including its camping ministry, music programs and bible bowl. In 1999 Tommy entered the School for Officer Training, as an Ambassador of Grace, and in 2001 was commissioned as an officer of The Salvation Army. During his first 2 years as an officer Tommy was able to focus on Children’s and Youth Ministry. In 2003 he and Gillian married and he was appointed to Territorial Headquarters in the Finance Department while Gillian completed her training. Their first appointment together was to the Buffalo Kensington Corps, NY where they have spent the past two years.
Captain Gillian Rogers
Gillian grew up knowing the Lord in the Methodist Church while growing up in England; however it was not until a summer abroad program while in University that her relationship with the Lord grew. Gillian spent a summer working at a Salvation Army Summer Camp in Upstate New York. It was during this time that she felt the Lord calling her to ministry. After returning for subsequent summers she was given the opportunity to work in the USA. For the next two years Gillian was able to work as a youth pastor, before she and Tommy married and she entered the School for Officer Training in 2003, as a Preparer of the Way.
